Hawaii Deer Hunting Seasons 2025-2026

Axis Deer – Molokai (Public Land)

  • February–April 2026 (regulated public hunts; permit required via lottery)

Axis Deer – Maui (Archery & Rifle)

  • Archery season runs portions of fall/winter; dates set annually by DLNR
  • Rifle season: select weekends October–December 2025 (lottery permit)

Blacktail Deer – Kauai

  • August 1 – December 31, 2025 (general season; both sexes; bag limit applies)

Hawaii Feral Pig & Goat Hunting 2025-2026

Feral Pig (All Islands – Public Hunting Areas)

  • Open year-round in designated public hunting areas with valid Hawaii Hunting License

Feral Goat (All Islands – Public Hunting Areas)

  • Open year-round in designated public hunting areas

Hawaii Turkey & Game Bird Seasons 2025-2026

Rio Grande Turkey – Hawaii Island

  • Spring season: April–May 2026 (dates set annually; public land permit hunts)

Ring-necked Pheasant – Statewide

  • November 1 – January 31, 2026 (varies by district)

Hawaii hunting seasons and permit hunts are managed by the Hawaii DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife. All hunters must possess a valid Hawaii hunting license.

Hawaii’s hunting seasons are managed by the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW). Seasons vary by island, unit, and method. All hunters must possess a valid Hawaii hunting license and use the OuterSpatial app for check-in/check-out on public lands.

Hawaii Deer Hunting Seasons 2025-2026

Axis Deer

  • Kauai, Lanai & Molokai (Archery Only): July 1 – December 31, 2025
  • Lānaʻi 2026 Season: Four-hunt format (archery, youth, muzzleloader, and rifle) – applications opened October 13, 2025; contact DOFAW for specific 2026 hunt dates

Black-tailed Deer (Kauai)

  • Muzzleloader (Lottery): September 6–7, 2025
  • Archery: September – December 2025 (unit-specific dates)
  • Rifle Seasons: September 13 – October 26, 2025 (and other periods by unit)

Hawaii Turkey Hunting Seasons 2025-2026

Spring Turkey (Hawaii Island / Big Island)

  • Spring Bearded Turkey: March 1 – April 15, 2026
  • License fee: $5 resident / $20 non-resident

Other Major Game Species

Feral Pig

  • Year-round weekends on all islands (archery/rifle, unit permits required)

Feral Goat

  • Year-round on Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii Island (archery/rifle, unit permits required)

Mouflon Sheep (Hawaii Island & Lānaʻi)

  • Big Island Archery Sheep: March 1 – July 28, 2025
  • Big Island Muzzleloader Sheep: August 1 – October 27, 2025 and September 3–18, 2025
  • Lānaʻi Mouflon Archery: July 16–27, 2025 (lottery allocated)

Game Birds (Pheasant, Quail, Francolin, Chukar)

  • Statewide: First Saturday in November – Last Sunday in January 2026 (shotgun or archery)
